Book Share

Book Share is an opportunity for your child to read a book of their choosing and present to their classmates a creative project about the book. Book Shares will be shared once a month. The idea of Book Share provides children with exposure to several different genres of literature. Along with this exposure, they have the chance to work on their public speaking skills in the safety of our classroom. Each of you should have received a copy of the Book Share Information Packet (link below). All students are expected to participate.

The outlines are for reference only. Please complete the projects. Do not turn in the forms that are provided in this packet as your project. If necessary, students may request construction paper or supplies from the teacher. *Starting with the November 9th Project students may substitute technology for any of the projects. They may take the project concepts listed and use it to create something online. Resources/ideas include, but are not limited to, book trailers/reviews, blogs, slides, screencasts. Look for links to tools below.

It is important that they also practice presenting their project. Third graders have very little experience speaking in front of a group and this assignment will make them nervous. You can help by having them practice their presentation several times. Work with them on reading difficult words, speaking loud enough and not rushing through their presentation. Remember, this is an accomplishment to be completed by your child. Please encourage your child to be neat.
